Strategic goals

The strategy of the Municipality of the Southern is linked to the strategy of the Ministry of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning, which stems from Bahrain Economic Vision 2030. The Municipality and the Ministry seek to achieve many aspirations for this vision. The Ministry of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning works to improve the environment in the regions, Through various development projects.
The municipality works to provide excellent municipal services in partnership with citizens and residents in the southern region.
Municipalities also contribute to the economic sphere by adopting the principle of self-financing in reducing the cost and financial burdens of the government and the public budget.

Promoting urban development

The Southern Municipality paid great attention to this aspect by creating an urban environment based on high technology and strong infrastructure supporting the development of the country over the years. Therefore, the Municipality has provided and implemented a master plan for urban development.

 

Sub-goals:

1. Afforestation and beautification.

Increasing the green spaces through the establishment of parks, parks and the beautification streets and squares, which aims to achieve environmental balance and provide recreational space for different segments of society.

2. Development of waterfront.

The expansion and development of the sea façades of coasts, beaches and sea ports, so that offer recreational sites contribute to the provision of family spaces for entertainment and supports the efforts of the Kingdom in promoting tourism.

3. Improving the quality of municipal services.

Develop customer service system and create effective channels of communication with citizens to identify their observations to reach customer satisfaction, set time periods for all services provided, prepare technical and planning studies on municipal sites, determine the investment ability of each site, type of investment activity and possible building density.

4. Integrated household waste management.

The establishment of an integrated place for sorting and managing household waste in order to reduce random burial, in addition to producing energy from waste management processes to achieve the Kingdom's efforts to achieve its international obligations in the field of waste treatment in accordance with international standards in order to reduce the amount of waste and preserve the environment and natural resources.

5. Developing financial and institutional management.

We aim to guide the role of the Ministry towards policy management, planning, programming, monitoring, evaluation, project management, application of advanced technologies and standards, in partnership with the private sector and the municipalities themselves.

6. Raising the efficiency of human resources.

Focusing on the human cadre by providing long-term programs for capacity building in the field of change management, competencies, leadership, performance management, knowledge management and modern techniques in the areas of the ministry's work.

7. Developing clearance transactions.

Manual transactions are collected from employees and transferred to the electronic system for the purpose of reducing paper transactions and the use of computer applications, while circulating the use of the electronic correspondence system among the ministry employees.

 8. Provide a supportive institutional environment for development and improvement.

Implement studies that identify and review the objectives and core tasks of the units and prepare an implementation plan for the implementation the new procedures.

9. Development municipal revenues.

Preparation of technical and planning studies on the municipal sites, determining the feasibility of investment for each site, type of investment activity and the possible building density, thus contributing to raising the investment return of these sites.

10. Strengthen supervision and inspection.

Strengthen the legal and financial control and the role of financial departments in the collection and control of electronic collection levels and take the necessary action.
