Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Oversees Progress of City and Town Development Project in the Northern Governorate

HE Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, stated that the ministry places great importance on the City and Town Development Project currently underway in the Kingdom of Bahrain, considering it one of the key initiatives aimed at providing essential services for Bahraini families. He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to mobilizing all available resources and capabilities to implement the project in accordance with the established plans and to meet the expected objectives.

This statement came during the minister’s visit to homes included within the Development Project in the Northern Governorate. The visit was attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs, Dr. Sayed Shubber Al-Wadaei, Chairman of the Northern Municipal Council, Eng. Lamia Al-Fadahla, Director General of the Northern Municipality, Mr. Mohammed Saad Al-Dosari, Representative of the Third District in the Northern Municipal Council, along with several ministry officials.

During the visit, several completed and under-construction homes were inspected. Meetings were held with homeowners to gather their feedback on the implementation process, the progress of construction and renovation work carried out in their homes, and whether all necessary facilities had been provided.

Minister Al Mubarak pointed out that the City and Town Development Project, since its launch in 2006, has been one of the pioneering and important initiatives in the field of urban development, contributing to the maintenance and renovation of Bahraini families' homes.

He explained that the ministry, in collaboration with the municipal councils, has successfully maintained and renovated homes across all governorates. The work carried out included additions, construction, maintenance, and renovations. He added that efforts are ongoing to set priorities and develop the action plan for the years 2025 and 2026 in cooperation with the municipal councils.

Al Mubarak praised the cooperation of the Northern Municipal Council and other municipal councils in implementing the City and Town Development Project, noting that the homes are being supervised by a specialized team of engineers to ensure quality, speed of completion, and to meet the needs of citizens. HE emphasized that citizen satisfaction is the foundation for evaluating the success.

For his part, Dr. Sayed Shubber Al-Wadaei, Chairman of the Northern Municipal Council, commended the Development Project, stating that the Northern Municipal Council is committed to continuing progress on this project to serve the largest possible number of eligible families. He highlighted the project's importance to the citizens, given the positive impact they experience from it.

The Chairman of the Northern Municipal Council emphasized that the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture has achieved significant milestones in this project, pointing out the importance of continuing the ongoing cooperation between the ministry and the municipal councils to increase the number of beneficiaries of the project.

For his part, Mr. Mohammed Saad Al-Dosari, Representative of the Third District in the Northern Municipal Council, commended the City and Town Development Project and the services it provides to citizens through maintenance and renovation. He reiterated the municipal council's full support for the project and expressed his appreciation for the visit made by HE the Minister to the Third District in the Northern Governorate, which reflects a strong commitment to delivering the best services to citizens.

It is important to note that applications for the City and Town Development Project are submitted by the relevant departments within the concerned municipal councils. Applications are submitted electronically through the Ministry’s electronic system upon satisfaction of approved criteria. The applications are then reviewed and verified by the ministry’s officials. Once confirmed to meet all project requirements, they are approved and put out for tender for execution.
