The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Continues Efforts to Clean Rainwater Drainage Channels and Pump Out Stagnant Water to Mitigate the Spread of Mosquitoes

The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture confirmed that its four Municipalities (Capital, Muharraq, South and North) conduct cleaning operations for rainwater drainage channels regularly. The Municipalities pump out stagnant water in preparation for the rainy season, aiming to maintain public health and reduce the spread of mosquitoes. It also noted that the Municipalities remove debris and construction waste that accumulate in public areas and cleaning operations are conducted continuously, throughout the week and year-round, across all regions of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

A dedicated campaign targets weed removal, particularly around drainage systems, to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds. Cleaning, waste disposal, and plant trimming follow an approved work mechanism, with ongoing monitoring of stagnant water and waste accumulation and immediate action taken against mosquito breeding.

The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture also emphasized the importance of complying with laws and regulations regarding waste disposal to safeguard the public interest, stating that the responsibility of ensuring a safe and healthy environment falls upon all members of the community. It also highlighted the launch of ongoing awareness and cleanliness campaigns, as well as the implementation of the Public Cleaning Law. It reaffirmed its support for community-based awareness initiatives and programs as part of its dedicated efforts to protect and promote public health.
