Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture Calls for Groundwater Well Owners to Update Data and Replace Water Meters
The Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture has called on all owners of groundwater wells, both individuals and public/private institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain, to update their data and replace their current water meters with electromagnetic meters equipped with General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) and approved by the Local Agricultural Production Department. This initiative aims to regulate groundwater sources and protect them from depletion.
In this context, Engineer Asim Abdul Latif Abdullah, Undersecretary for Agricultural Affairs and Animal Wealth at the Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture, confirmed the ongoing efforts to improve water management efficiency and enhance the use of water resources to ensure sustainability.
He stated that updating groundwater well data and replacing the current meters is crucial for ensuring the provision of up-to-date information to facilitate effective communication between the ministry and well owners. This will also ensure accurate measurement of water consumption and provide real-time, comprehensive data, in addition to complying with regulations governing water consumption to guarantee the sustainable use of resources.
The Undersecretary for Agricultural Affairs and Animal Wealth urged all groundwater well owners to update their data by visiting the ministry’s website at www.mun.gov.bh or by visiting the Local Agricultural Production Directorate located in Hoorat Ali no later than Sunday, June 1, 2025. Additionally, he stressed the necessity of replacing existing water meters with electromagnetic meters equipped with GPRS, approved by the Local Agricultural Production Directorate, no later than Monday, September 1, 2025.
These electromagnetic meters, equipped with GPRS, offer high accuracy in measuring water consumption and provide real-time, comprehensive data, contributing to the efficient management of water resources.
