Chairman of Northern Area Municipal Council

The municipal councils are an actual product of the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the great king of the country. The project is an important step in building community partnership in the process of development movement in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It represents a natural extension of the historical process of municipal work, the initial pillars of which were built with the establishment of the municipal work system in 1919 and the accompanying qualitative developments in the institutional building of community partnership in service and development projects in our country.

The media message is an important tool for activating community partnership, and it is thus a vital complement in supporting municipal work efforts. From the same standpoint, care has been taken to launch the electronic platform of the Municipal Council in the northern region to enable the community to follow up on the work of the Council and activate its participation in making municipal work policies and upgrading service and development projects that serve interests Social in its various manifestations, which contribute to providing a healthy environment suitable for sustainable living and contribute to the achievement of the goals of the national project for sustainable development in accordance with the vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain 2030.

An elected municipal council has the authority to issue regulations, decisions, orders and monitor all of this within the limits of its competence stipulated in the Municipalities Law promulgated by Decree-Law No. (35) of 2001, and in particular in Article No. (19) of the same law.

The council operates on a committee system, where it studies all requests and proposals received from members, citizens, ministries, and various civil society institutions through its specialized committees, which in turn prepare the necessary technical and specialized studies, and ultimately submit them to the municipal council to take decisions and recommendations regarding them and follow up on their implementation with the competent authorities.

The Council has internal bylaws that regulate the general provisions of the work in addition to the work system of the sessions and define the terms of reference of the committees in addition to the functions and work of the committees as well as the responsibilities and duties of the members towards work in the Council.
