Agriculture Affairs Celebrate Tree Week by Planting 200 Trees in its Premises in Budaiya

In support of the National Action Plan announced by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to achieve carbon neutrality, and in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to designate the third week of October each year as Tree Week, the Agriculture and Animal Resources Affairs under the umbrella the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture planted 200 trees at its headquarters in Budaiya.

Additionally, a large number of trees were distributed to local residents during the event, which was attended by His Excellency Eng. Asem Abdul Latif, Undersecretary for Agriculture and Animal Resources, along with several staff members.

The event included the planting of more than 200 trees in the ministry's fields in Budaiya, with Agriculture Affairs employees actively contributing to the planting, watering, and care of the trees.

In this regard, Eng. Asem Abdul Latif stated: "This event aligns with the Tree Week initiative approved by the Ministerial Cabinet and reflects the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture's commitment to expanding green spaces, preserving the environment, and encouraging participation in afforestation efforts."

The Undersecretary emphasized the significance of commemorating Tree Week, stating that the event reaffirms the ministry's dedication to promoting awareness of the vital role trees play in improving air quality and maintaining biodiversity.

The Undersecretary added that the ministry is working diligently to implement numerous projects and programs aimed at increasing green spaces in the Kingdom and encouraging farmers to plant fruit-bearing trees as an essential part of the food chain. He also noted that the activities celebrating Tree Week within the Agriculture and Animal Resources Affairs will include training employees on how to plant trees and plants suitable for Bahrain's environmental conditions. This initiative aims to enhance their skills in this field and contribute to the ministry's goals of expanding green spaces. Additionally, experts from the Ministry's Vegetation Development Directorate will hold field lectures aimed at raising employee awareness, highlighting the importance of trees and their role in preserving the environment and achieving sustainable development.
