Northern Area Municipality carried out a wide inspection campaign in Sadad to reduce the phenomenon of discarding construction waste in open yards. The law includes a term proclaims that those who discard waste randomly in public spaces and residential neighborhoods are punished with a fine of up to 300 dinars.

The municipality indicated that random landfill waste represents one of the most challenging municipal issues. As this phenomenon is a frequent concern and is linked to the acceleration of the pace of urban development in the Northern Area and its vast area.

It is noteworthy that the campaign is paralleled with the Northern Municipality awareness campaign (Northern without construction waste), which aims to raise awareness among various segments of society of the importance of construction waste disposal at the designated sites.

It introduces community members to the legislation and procedures in force in the field of proper disposal of waste. This community partnership would strengthen; to contribute to reducing the random disposal of construction waste to make the Northern Area free of scattered construction waste.

Concerned parties would be informed of designated locations for disposing construction waste and the proper methods that should be followed.  Awareness would be raised among contractors and workers in the field of building and construction about the damage caused by these wastes and the negative impact resulting from random disposal.
