Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Inspects Development of Two New Parks in Sitra Housing City
His Excellency Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, conducted an inspection visit to follow up on the progress of two neighborhood park development projects in Sitra Housing City, which have reached 40% completion. The visit was attended by Eng. Saleh Taher Tarada, Chairman of the Capital Municipality Council; Eng. Mohammed Saad Al-Sahli, Director General of the Capital Municipality; Ms. Maryam Jumaa Al-Faliti, Assistant Undersecretary for Housing Services at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning; along with several senior officials.
On this occasion, the Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to executing service-driven projects that contribute to the Kingdom’s growing development momentum and comprehensive national renaissance. He emphasized the Ministry’s dedication to continuously upgrading public parks and facilities across all governorates, as well as expanding projects that increase green spaces and enhance infrastructure in parks, walkways, and recreational areas—aligning with the aspirations of the local community.
The Minister outlined that the first park project in Sitra Housing City covers an area of 2,104 square meters and will include two padel courts covering 400 square meters, the planting of more than 50 trees, and 680 square meters of ground cover plants—representing 31% of the park’s area. The second park, being developed over 2,176 square meters, will feature a multi-purpose sports court (490 square meters), approximately 50 trees, and 680 square meters of ground cover plants—comprising 32% of the park’s total area. Additionally, it will include 26 parking spaces and four seating areas.
Minister Al Mubarak also emphasized the importance of coordinating with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to provide integrated services within housing projects. This includes utilizing available spaces within these projects to offer accessible municipal services that enhance the urban and environmental landscape of these communities.
For his part, Eng. Saleh Taher Tarada commended the efforts of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in developing parks, recreational areas, and their infrastructure. He highlighted the role of such projects in expanding municipal services, promoting urban development, and enhancing overall quality of life. He noted that neighborhood-based projects offer easily accessible public services and provide healthy spaces for sports and leisure activities for all age groups.
The Chairman also praised the high level of integration and cooperation among various entities in the implementation of development and recreational initiatives, as well as in advancing the national afforestation strategy by accelerating greenery and planting efforts in public parks and facilities—contributing positively to the aesthetic and urban identity of residential neighborhoods.
